The women of the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society are united to "increase interest in and to support the mission endeavors...of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod." Message from your Circuit President
LWMS~Northwoods Circuit
December, 2009

"My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun," says the LORD Almighty. Malachi 1:11

Our LWMS Prayer calendar suggests that we remember to pray for:
• A childlike faith as you again rejoice that Christ the Savior is born.
• Your congregation's Christmas outreach efforts.
• Our WELS missions in Taiwan and throughout southeast Asia.
• Missionaries with December birthdays.

Please note the picture and comments on the December page: "Our WELS focus is ongoing mentoring of the evangelists and preparing in Bible class formats the Bible Institue courses which are offered to the entire CLEC membership. Our goal is to use God's Word to strengthen the overall spiritual level of our members while also looking for those who show promise and can be encouraged for future full-time ministry in the CLEC. Pray that God grant spiritual strength to reach these goals!"

Mission Offerings 2009-Northwoods Circuit

Circuit Fall Retreat/Rally, October 16-18, 2009
• Those who attended the Retreat/Rally at Northwoods Conference Center, Watersmeet experienced an inspirational week-end of Christian fellowship! Carol Egelseer and Sarah Malchow presented interesting information about their trip to Nigeria through Power Point and a display table. Our Nigerian sisters in faith demonstate their eagerness to know God's Word as evidenced by their worn Bibles.
• Act of God Musical Trio shared Christian messages through their energetic performance with instruments and voices. We look forward to hearing them again and anticipate their recording a CD.
• Pastor Spaude led us in Friday evening devotions and Saturday Bible Study. Saturday evening Sarah Malchow shared a Bible Study which had been used in Nigeria.
• Explanation of the LWMS flag display was led by the Vertein family, followed by a Hymn sing. Much appreciation, Pastor, Monica and family!
• Pastor Korthals led us in our closing worship service Sunday morning.
• While the banner project was cancelled due to an emergency situation, Mary Puestow shared her expertise in making note cards. Thank you, Mary!!
• CAMM was highlighted through use of a DVD which Judy Lepak showed Saturday afternoon.
• Much excitement was heard by the bowlers who used the bowling alley Saturday evening!
• Attendees made good use of the NPH Book Fair as well as the table displaying Hmong/Thai handcrafts. Some handcrafts are still available at Zion, Rhinelander. If interested, please contact Sharon.
• And we could not forget to mention the delicious meals served by the Conference Center!!
• Special thanks to the ladies of Bethany, Bruce Crossing for acting as hosts with registration, table decorations and favors!
• Our business meeting included appoval of the revised Bylaws for our circuit. If you would like a copy, please see your reporter or contact Sharon.

My Mission Prayer
Lord Jesus, While you were here on earth, you helped all, especially the sick, poor, and outcasts of society.
Bless the missionaries who continue your work in places I may not go. Help me remember them in my prayers.
Continue to guide them, watch over them, and keep them safe from the devil and his evil ways.
Bless me with opportunities to share the gospel. Make me your missionary in the place where I live.
To you be all glory and honor, Amen.

United to Serve Jesus,
