Florida family vacation - July 2009
We were very excited to be able to visit Florida as a family over the summer in 2009 - particularly because we anticipated the birth of our second grandchild in late June. Alayna Joy Anders, second child of Ryan & Joy, was born on June 27th (about a week past her due date). We all arrived in Florida on July 2nd for a week-long stay - all of us were along except for Joel who was back on the job at ALERT in Texas. Our goal was help out Ryan & Joy, and to get acquainted with Alayna! And of course get re-acquainted with Caden! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and gave Alayna the official "grand-parent stamp of approval" ...










Caden was eager to show us around his house and grounds ... initially he probably wondered "who are all these people?", but he quickly warmed up to us ...









The guys also spent a half-day at Ginnie Springs State Park to do some diving / snorkeling. Ginnie Springs is near High Springs, Florida, which is about an hour drive north of Williston. The natural spring-fed streams here are some of the best in Florida for diving - the water is crystal clear with interesting underwater cave formations to dive into.




The gang also had the opportunity to visit a friend of Alyssa's from Verity - Sarah Eddy. The Eddy's were gracious hosts for an afternoon and evening (they live in the Jacksonville area) - Grandma and Grandpa stayed at Ryan & Joy's house.
