So often we connect the idea of repenting with some sorry event that we turn away from. In many and various ways that may very well be the case. If you think about it it probably is good that we feel regret and sorrow for a wrong committed that we turn away from, that is repent of. There may be amends that need to be made as we repent and begin a new life of walking in that repentance. Since Jesus came into our world we are called, beckoned, invited to turn from the ways of the world, that is repent from the ways of the world. This we do not sorrowfully but rather joyfully! Our Lord Jesus calls us to believe in the good news! What is that good news? It is forgiveness, salvation, and the promise of eternal life in God's kingdom that has drawn very near to us in and through our Lord and Savior Jesus. Let your "repenting" be honest and sincere, but also joyful as you hear the healing Word of God in Jesus, that you are forgiven and through this same Jesus are made a member of the Kingdom of God.
