CHAPEL This week chapel was led by Mrs. Kapels. The scripture reading was taken from Luke 20:20-26. Mrs. Kapels held up a sign that said "Vote for me." She talked about the signs and campaigning that people does to support a candidate. Then she held up a sign that said "Pray for me." She told us how important it is to pray for our leaders, even if they are not the ones we supported. We should honor and respect all of our leaders, and pray that they make Godly decisions. Most of all we should respect and honor our most trusted leader, our Lord. Even in hard times, the Holy Spirit helps us to stand up for what we believe and gives us the courage to pray and honor those who have authority over us, even those that we don't always agree with.
THANKSGIVING MISSION PROJECT During the month of November we would like to have a non-perishable food drive. We are asking the students to bring can goods and other boxed food items. Please bring them to the cross in the hallway. Let’s see if we can cover the cross!
CHOIR NEWS All children will sing Sunday, November 15th. The bell choir will be playing November 22nd. We are so grateful for the praise and worship our students bring to the Lord when they sing and ring!
ADOPTIVE PARENT FEAST Please fill out the RSVP form so we know who will be attending. We want this to be a time for your child to get to know their adoptive parents. We plan to have them sit together, and we will have a “get acquainted” activity.
THRIVENT MATCHING FUNDS Thanks to everyone who has donated through “Giving Plus”. This program, which matches your donations $.50 on the $1.00, is coming to an end. We are encouraging people to make use of these matching funds before the end of the year. We put together a wish list of items that our school would like, and Julie Oehlrich composed a letter which was given to all St. John’s members this past Sunday. If you have a grandparent or other special person who would also like to contribute to our school through this program, the letter and forms are attached.
SCRIP Joan now has pre-paid VISA cards available, too. You may use the attached order form, and send it to school for your Scrip order. We will get it to her that day. Thanks for your support!

Little Room news: This week we had a lot of fun finishing up our unit on fossils and dinosaurs. We researched a variety of dinosaurs and learned what they ate and how large they were. We measured out a few of the different types of dinosaurs and compared them to our size. Wow, they sure were enormous! The first and second grades are really doing well with their math facts. Keep up the good work! The Kindergarten read a story about Warthogs in the Kitchen. They learned that it is important to follow a recipe if you want your cake to turn out. They enjoyed baking a cake with Miss Judy. Yum!
1-2 Spelling—Unit 10
Middle Room News: Since we had a normal schedule this week, we have been very busy with our school work. Our character trait this past month was responsibility. We are really improving our study skills, to include using complete detailed sentences in our answers, using our planners and folders to help us keep track of our work, asking questions when help is needed, and taking pride in our work. In Math the students are taking timed tests every morning to improve their multiplication, addition, and subtraction facts. We also learned about Joseph and his brothers – what a great example of grace and forgiveness. Because Christ has forgiven us, we can forgive others, no matter what they have done to us! What a blessing!
Big Room News: This week the big room worked hard. In Language, they learned about subordinate and independent clauses. They also learned about the difference between adjective clauses and adverb clauses. The 5th and 6th graders are continuing to learn about Europe. This week they discussed the countries in west-central Europe, and they really focused in on France and Germany. Many of the math students worked on fractions this week. They had to find a common denominator in order to add or subject some pretty complex fractions. *Next weeks spelling words are unit 13.
Preschool News: The students met two new animals, Nigel Night owl for “Nn” and Olive Octopus for “Oo” this week. Our numbers were 13 & 14. For the number 14 the students counted out 14 beans and glued them onto a paper jar picture. The Bible story was about Christian Friends, Jonathan and David. In this season of harvest we have begun learning/reviewing about “The Farm”. We were learning abut animals this week.
