100th Anniversary Plate (available for purchase) | | In 1905, the Swenson Brothers (SMS) Ranches divided the Ericksdale Ranch into small farms for the purpose of interesting prospective Swedish and other Scandinavian settlers from central Texas to locate here. Dr. J. A. Stamline and A. J. Swenson conducted excursions to view these new lands.Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl was founded in January, 1906; and a white wooden church was built on 80 acres donated by the Swenson Brothers for the purpose in 1907. The present church was built using stone from the church property, with the laying of the cornerstone in 1940. Much of the labor for the building was furnished by members of the congregation. Construction costs were partially funded from revenue of oil discovered on the church property in 1938. In 2001, Christ Lutheran Church in Stamford became a part of Bethel Lutheran, with services continuing to be held at both worship sites. |

. GROWING UP INTO CHRIST Ephesians 4:15 (100th Anniversary verse)But speaking the truth in love, we must GROW up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body's growth in building itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:15-16) |

SEIZE THE HOPE Hebrews 6:18In the same way, when God desired to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it by an oath, so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible that God would prove false, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to SEIZE THE HOPE set before us. We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner shrine behind the curtain, where Jesus, a forerunner on our behalf, has entered, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 6:17-20) |
. . KNOW THE HOPE Ephesians 1:18I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may KNOW what is THE HOPE to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. . . SHARE THE HOPE 2 Corinthians 1:7If we are being afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation; if we are being consoled, it is for your consolation, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we are also suffering. Our HOPE for you is unshaken; for we know that as you SHARE in our sufferings, so also you SHARE in our consolation. (2 Corinthians 1:6-7)
