13:14
HISTORY Henrysville
is about 8 miles east of
Green Bay on Highway 29, at about half way between Kewaunee and Green
Bay, between the villages of Poland and Pilsen. To the south
lies the village of Denmark and to the north stretches the great Door
County peninsula. This Lutheran congregation was organized in 1880,
only 32 years after the founding of the State of Wisconsin. The
church is built on a small hill overlooking a beautiful rural
setting. The churchyard around the church has undergone few changes
over the years. The
surrounding area is now changing from a farming community into a
growing suburb of Green Bay.
FAITH We
believe the Holy Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the Son of God
and our Beautiful Savior who sacrificed his life to pay for all sins.
We believe that the Son of God in heroic love took on human flesh and
blood, lived a sinless life, then sacrificed his life on the cross of
Calvary to earn forgiveness for humanity. We believe that the
heavenly Father raised his Son Jesus from the tomb as a sign of His
approval. We believe that the Almighty Father now forgives all who
trust in the payment that His heroic Son made to earn complete
forgiveness for all humanity. We believe the Holy Spirit creates and
sustains Christian faith in people by means of the Holy Bible, Holy
Baptism, and Holy Communion. We look forward to when God will raise
the dead to life and grant eternal life and joys in heaven to all who
trust in the sacrifice His Son made.
WORSHIP We
administer Holy Baptism. We study the Holy Bible together. We accept
it as God's true, inerrant, and inspired message to the world. We
employ Holy Baptism and Holy Communion in the same way the apostles
of Jesus did. We use these sacraments to increase our faith in Jesus
and to receive his forgiveness of sins. Our manner of worship is
liturgical in the ancient Lutheran tradition.
LIFESTYLE We
strive for love and fellowship. In our prayers we remember members
and non-members alike. We seek ways to help and assist both members
and non-members. We look for spiritual guidance from the Holy Bible.
We offer religious instruction classes to all who seek to join us.
FELLOWSHIP Several
of our neighboring WELS churches offer Lutheran elementary education
for our children. Our young people can choose between two WELS high
schools, Manitowoc Lutheran High School or Appleton's Fox Valley
Lutheran High School. Also the neighboring WELS churches offer many
activities for our members of all ages.
