Our New Pastor is the Reverend David B. Letscher
The congregation voted to call the Rev David Letscher as pastor on Jaunary 8, 2012. Pastor Letscher informed Council President Michael Stover of his acceptance on January 12th. Scheduling of his move and starting his ministry is being worked out. Please welcome Pastor David Letscher and his wife Betty.
Call Process News - December 2011
The Call Committee has proposed a candidate to council. Council has met with him and his wife and has recommended him to the congregation. Bishop Driesen has scheduled January 8, 2012 as the trial sermon and congregational vote on extending the candidate a call as Pastor of Bethany.
Call Process Status - March 2011
Bishop Driesen met with our call committee on December 7, 2010 for their initial training and organization. The call committee elected Glenn Kaufman as Chairman, Ruth Kissell as Chaplain, and Deb Harman as Secretary.

The Congregation Council and the Call Committee have met with Pr Karl John Stone to prepare Bethany's Ministry Profile for publication. Council and Call Committee have completed the document and approved it at the December 13 meeting.

In Jaunary 2011, Bishop Driesen approved our Ministry Site Profile after we made several changes he requested.

On February 18, Pastor Bramer completed his Reflections document that is part of the Profile. Bishop Driesen incorporated Pastor Bramer's Reflections document in our Profile and published it in the national ELCA database on February 21. You can see it by searching for openings in the Upper Susquehanna Synod at:

Candidates will submit their information to the Bishop. Bishop Driesen will review and forward their resumes to our call committee. The call committee will then interview the candidate and, once they unanimously agree on the individual, start a candidacy process by informing our congregation council.
