Sometime in the 1800's Mr. Samuel Ashby gave land, built a church building and left a small endowment for its operation, which was donated to the Methodist Conference. Services by circuit and lay preachers and also Sunday School were quite well attended, the method of transportation in those days was horse and carriage. Families attending to name a few were Ashby, Hurst, Johnson, Kratz, Mayne, Mink, Reed, Roschi, Schaal, Shinoe, Stoney, and Yager. Services became somewhat dormant in the late teens and early twenties. August 1931, records show 47 enrolled in fall Sunday School, with Wilma Yager as secretary. In 1938 a congregation was formed and the first council elected which included Gordon, Charles and Niels Laugesen, Arthur and Floyd Retallick, Earl Hayden and Ora Yager. Then in 1938, 18 persons were present to adopt a constitution and the name "St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church". And on June 15, 1938 four council members registered the congregation as a religious society in the state of Wisconsin. Also in 1938, the congregation proceeded to purchase the property including the endowment from the Methodist Conference. The purchase was made and financed by advertisements on a napkin, birthday calendar, lunches at farm sales, and other methods. Since becoming "St. Paul's Lutheran Church" the property has had continuous upkeep by its members.
