| | The Prayer Shawl Ministry here at St. John Center Lutheran has been reborn with a new committment to sharing in this powerful ministry to those who are ill, facing difficult times or celebrating moments of joy in their lives. New shawls have been lovingly created in prayer, commissioned in prayer by members of this Ministry and blessed by prayers of the congregation. These shawls are now ready to share with those in need. |

| | Share a Prayer Shawl with Someone in Need |
All congregational members are invited to share a shawl with family and friends, with members and non-menbers alike. Here's how to share a Prayer Shawl: |
* IDENTIFY A NEED. Common times when shawls are given are: hospitalization, diagnosis of a serious illness, death of a loved one, uncommon difficult life circumstances or marriage, birth of a child, or other significant life event. Prayer shawls must never be sold; they are made and given in love.* CHOOSE A SHAWL. Shawls are kept in one of the brown cabinets in the Adult Sunday School room. Feel free to choose a shawl and give it away. Measurements are marked on each shawl to give you an idea of its size. *INCLUDE A BROCHURE WITH THE SHAWL. There is a supply of brochures available in the cabinet as well. Brochures will help to explain the shawl, provide prayers for the recipient, and identify our congregation. *LOG THE RECIPIENT. There is a clipboard in the cabinet with the names of those who have already received a prayer shawl. Glance over the list to be sure that you are not giving a shawl to someone who already has one. If not, add the recipient's name to the end of the list and be sure to add your name as the person giving the shawl. |
