A Word of Welcome to Trinity Lutheran, Shumway, IL by Pastor HubertNearly 150 years ago, the ancestors of many of our members banded together to provide for Lutheran worship even before there was a Shumway! Over the years we have loved each other. worked hard together, heard the Word preached and received the holy Sacraments. We've seen good and strong years of mission and witness. We've seen years of struggle and discord. But now as we look forward we are poised to work hard for our future, just like Moses and the people of Israel standing on the far side of the Jordan River ready to cross into the Promised Land. It is with those same strengths that founded this congregation that we continue. We pledge ourselves and each other to love each other, work hard together, hear the Word preached and receive the holy Sacraments. We count on the Holy Spirit to work with and through all of us, and even more, to bring to commpletion what the Spirit has begun among us. For those who are looking for a church home, where you will be welcomed and valued, where we believe the Bible means what it says, where we stand together lest we wander apart, come and be a part of us! Pray for us as we pray for you! |

Psalm 111Praise the Lord. I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who have pleasure in them. Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures for ever. He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful. He provides food for those who fear him; he is ever mindful of his covenant. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations. The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy, they are established for ever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant for ever. Holy and terrible is his name! The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who practice it. His praise endures for ever! |

PRAYER CHAIN |
|
Trinity members have organized and actively maintain a Prayer Chain. Individuals and families in need of prayers because of illness or coping with life's trials may be added or removed from the Prayer Chain by calling the church office (217-868-5156) and leaving a message, or you can pick up a listing of the participants and phone numbers on the table by the entrance to the sanctuary. | |
WHAT DO YOU THINK? This is an opportunity for you to have input on a variety of topics using the Trinity Chat Room or Message Board. I will be introducing topics occasionally or you may bring up church related topics of your own. You will need to register as a participant and be approved to post anything. But please take the time to do so as your ideas are important.Topic #1 Trinity's 150th anniversary is coming up in 2014. Sounds like a long way off but now is the time to come up with ideas and begin to think of prices and financing. So let's see/hear your ideas on the Message Board. What activities would you like to see? |
