July 24-August 2, 2008

Friday, July 24:
Around noon: Arrive in San Salvador airport. Meet Habitat for Humanity El Salvador staff and team.
Upon whole team’s arrival: Two hour drive in van to Santa Ana (may stop for a snack) and check into Hotel Sahara
6:00-8:00pm Orientation by Habitat El Salvador staff and dinner from Pollo Campero at Santa Ana regional Habitat office
8:00-8:30pm Thrivent Builds team meeting (Hotel Sahara)—Erin will lead prayer, using daily theme of “bienvenidos!" (welcome!)

Saturday, July 25
7:00am Breakfast at Hotel Sahara
8:00am Leave for the job site
8:30-9:30am Devotion and construction orientation by Habitat for Humanity El Salvador
9:30-10:30am Construction with local Salvadoran volunteers
10:30-10:45am Break
10:45-12Noon Construction
12Noon-1:00pm Lunch at the build site, a traditional Salvadoran meal
1:00-2:15pm Construction with local Salvadoran volunteers
2:15-2:30pm Break (local volunteers leave after break)
2:30-4:00pm Construction and clean up job site
4:00-4:30pm Return to Hotel Sahara
6:00-7:00pm Dinner at Hotel Sahara
7:00-8:00pm Thrivent Builds team meeting (Hotel Sahara)—Miriam will lead prayer, using daily theme of idioma (language)

Sunday, July 26
6:30am Breakfast at Hotel Sahara
7:30am Leave for church
9:00-12:30 Worship with local Lutheran congregation. If worshipping in San Salvador, after the service the team will meet with bishop or a representative.
12:30-1:00pm Drive in van to Lake Coatepeque
1:00-3:30pm El Salvador welcome activity, including lunch with Habitat for Humanity staff and partner families and a boat ride on Lake Coatepeque (Optional: bring a towel and bathing suit)
3:30-4:00pm Drive in van back to Hotel Sahara
4:00-6:30pm Free time
6:30-7:30pm Dinner at Hotel Sahara
7:30-8:30pm Thrivent Builds team meeting (Hotel Sahara)—The Brandts will lead prayer, using daily theme of fe (faith)

Monday, July 27
6:00-7:15am Breakfast at Hotel Sahara
7:15am Leave for the job site
7:45-8:00am Devotion by Habitat for Humanity El Salvador
8:00-10:00am Construction
10:00-10:15am Break
10:15-12Noon Construction
12Noon-1:00pm Lunch at the build site, a traditional Salvadoran meal
1:00-2:30pm Construction
2:30-2:45pm Break

Tuesday, July 28

7:15am Leave for the job site
7:45-8:00am Devotion by Habitat for Humanity El Salvador
8:00-10:00am Construction
10:00-10:15am Break
10:15-12Noon Construction
12Noon-1:00pm Lunch at the build site, a traditional Salvadoran meal (It’s possible that we’ll have our team meeting during lunch instead of after dinner today).

2:30-3:00pm Construction and clean up job site
3:00-4:30pm Return to Hotel Sahara and clean up
4:30-7:30pm 1st evening cultural activity and dinner out at Carimar
7:30-8:30pm Thrivent Builds team meeting—Doug will lead prayer, using daily theme of hospitalidad (hospitality)

Wednesday, July 29
6:00-7:15am Breakfast at Hotel Sahara
7:15am Leave for the job site
7:45-8:00am Devotion by Habitat for Humanity El Salvador
8:00-10:00am Construction
10:00-10:15am Break
10:15-12Noon Construction
12Noon-1:00pm Lunch at the build site, a traditional Salvadoran meal
1:00-3:00pm Construction
3:00-4:30pm Intercultural activity at construction site (making pupusas, talking with partner families and Habitat for Humanity El Salvador staff)
4:30-5:00pm Return to Hotel Sahara
5:00-6:00pm Free time
6:00-7:00pm Dinner at Hotel Sahara
7:00-8:00pm Thrivent Builds team meeting—Greg will lead prayer, using daily theme of cultura (culture)

Thursday, July 30
6:00-7:15am Breakfast at Hotel Sahara
7:15am Leave for the job site
7:45-8:00am Devotion by Habitat for Humanity El Salvador
8:00-10:00am Construction
10:00-10:15am Break
10:15-12Noon Construction
12Noon-1:00pm Lunch at the build site, a traditional Salvadoran meal. During lunch today, we will have our Thrivent Builds team meeting—Bill will lead prayer, using daily theme of servicio y mayordomía (service and stewardship)
1:00-2:30pm Construction
2:30-2:45pm Break
2:45-3:00pm Construction and job site clean up
3:00-4:30pm Return to Hotel Sahara and get cleaned up
4:30-7:30pm 2nd evening cultural activity and dinner out at Los 44

Friday, July 31
6:00-7:15am Breakfast at Hotel Sahara
7:15am Leave for the job site
7:45-8:00am Devotion by Habitat for Humanity El Salvador
8:00-10:00am Construction
10:00-10:15am Break
10:15-12Noon Construction
12Noon-2:30pm Farewell lunch at construction site
2:30-3:00pm Return to Hotel Sahara
3:30pm Depart for Apeneca (lodging and meals included). During our ride, Scott will lead prayer, using daily theme of relaciones (relationships).
4:30 pm Walk around Apeneca, a historic colonial town on the coffee & flower trail
6:30 pm Dinner and overnight in Cabañas de Apaneca

Saturday, August 1
8:00 am Departure to El Portezuelo Coffee Park for an English-guided tour of the geysers
12 Noon Lunch at a local restaurant
2:00 pm English-guided tour of coffee plantation
5:00 pm Departure to San Salvador
Dinner and overnight in the Mariscal Hotel & Suites
7:00-8:00pm Thrivent Builds team meeting—Kelsey will lead prayer, using daily theme of preparacion para casa (preparation for home).

Sunday, August 2
9:00am Drive in van to airport for departure from El Salvador (time dependent on team’s flight schedule, but most of team leaving around noon).
