A TWO POINT PARISH BUT - UNITED IN SPIRIT

OSCAR LAKE LUTHERAN CHURCH

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran
HISTORY OF OSCAR LAKE LUTHERAN
In 1864, two Swedish families had homesteaded near Oscar Lake in Holmes City Township, Douglas County. The A. G. Solberg and Lars Fahlin families built log homes and began to clear their land. A licensed lay preacher and student, Jonas Magney, came and ministered to the Swedes and anyone needing his services. An organizational meeting began the Oscar Lake Evangelical Lutheran Church on August 8, 1866.

HISTORY OF TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN
The first years, early settlers gathered for worship in homes and under the shade of trees. Meetings and services were also held in the Mill Lake and Holmes City schoolhouses. For some time the congregation was known as den Svenska Evangeliska Lutherska forsamlingen I Lekvatten. The present church was constructed in 1890 for $1,146.43. The name of the church changed to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran in 1935.

Croskey's Crossings

If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me as the Scripture said, "From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water." - John 7: 37-38. Just as plants get thirsty, we get thirsty, too. When the Samaritan woman at the well met Jesus, He explained to her that physical water is temporary, but spiritual water is eternal. Through extended times alone with God in prayer and in reading His Word, we develop inner sustenance for trials that come. When we let God put His Living Water in our hearts, not only does He satisfy our spiritual thirst, He helps us to grow. And we can be a nourishing fountain to others.

Praise be to God
