Our church is a member of the
Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS).

The ELS believes now as it always has
that two basic biblical teachings
underlie all that it seeks to be and do
in its service to the Lord and His Church.
The first is that the Bible is the synod’s
sole authority for all it teaches. The
entire Bible — the Old and New Testaments — 
is the Word of God, inspired by God the
Holy Spirit. Therefore it is absolute
truth and without error.
The second is that in the Bible God reveals to mankind His Son Jesus. The Bible is written
so that we may know Jesus, the world’s only Savior from sin, death and the devil.
By God’s grace, through trusting in Jesus we are saved from eternal death and we will
enjoy eternal life in heaven.

The ELS was organized in 1918 as the successor to the Norwegian Synod.
Since 1927 it has operated Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota.
Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary has been training pastors and missionaries since 1946.
