From the pulpit, I recently have introduced the idea increasing our service to the Lord as “Consecrated Stewards.” To be a “Consecrated Steward” means to step up to the responsibility of properly managing the gifts which God has given us. The particulars of this fall into three categories, namely: the ways in which we manage our time, talents, and treasures. First of all, the idea is not to come to you, “begging for more.” The idea is to help you become more involved in serving the Lord in all the areas of your life as well as here at St. Paul’s. Now then, before saying anything more about time, talents, and treasures the first thing I want you to do is to list seven of the most important blessings you enjoy.

For example, God has richly blessed me with: 1. A strong faith in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior; 2. A loving, faithful, and supportive wife who has put up with me for better than thirty-seven years. God bless Joan. 3. A family of three dedicated, cheerful daughters and an exceptionally gracious son-in-law. God bless Samantha and her husband, Dan, and my other dear daughters, Danielle, and Alison; 4. A loving and supportive congregation of believers who have put up with me now for better than twenty years. God bless all the dear members of St. Paul’s Church; 5. A strong and healthy frame. Thank you, Lord, for my good health and the healthy family which surrounds me, and please, Lord, bless those who are in need of special care. 6. The joy and privilege of freedom. God bless America; and, of course 7. Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of my work which allows me to financially support my family, my church, and others in need.
| | This little exercise really put me in the spirit of Thanksgiving which, by God’s grace, we’ll enjoy come the end of the month on Thursday, the 26th. Again, thank you, Lord, for these multiple blessings, but this article is not about Thanksgiving; it’s about being “Consecrated Stewards.” But the reality of it is this: being a “Consecrated Steward” simply means that we take into account all the gifts God has given us; and then, in a moment of giving thanks, step up to say, “I have been so blessed. I want to thank you, Lord, by giving more of my time, sharing more of my talents, and dedicating more of my income to you here at your Church at St. Paul’s.

| The Council, the Board of Deacons, and the newly appointed “Consecrated Stewards Team” has designated December 13th as CONSECRATION SUNDAY, a day when we will dedicate ourselves or “consecrate ourselves” to the Lord. CONSECRATION SUNDAY will really be a day of celebration as we gather together and witness to our calling in Christ. Note the date, mark it on your calendar, and plan to participate because a special Celebration Dinner is being planned as an added highlight of the day. Sincerely, Pastor Schultz
