HOW BIG IS GOD?How big is God? The earth is one planet. How many planets are in solar system? Eight. (I guess that the astronomers no longer consider Pluto a planet.) I did some research on the space probe, Voyager 1, which was launched on September 5, 1977, to send back information on Jupiter and Saturn. It sent back pictures and kept going. In January 2005 it was on its way out of our solar system. It is still traveling at 39,000 mph. By 2020 it will be 12.4 billion miles from the sun. (Earth is 93 million miles from the sun.)
Astronomers estimate that there are 200 billion stars in our Milky Way galaxy. If we could travel 100,000 mph (so far the fastest manned spacecraft has gone 24,600 mph), it would take us 60 billion years to fly across our galaxy. Astronomers estimate that there may be 200 billion galaxies in the universe. And God made it all! He exists beyond His creation, beyond measuring.
Our immeasurable God also become human and was born. He was rejected by His human creation and nailed to the cross where He died. He died for us humans who sometimes complain that life and God have been unfair to us. We can be selfish, hurtful, easily seeking temptation. We can feel entitled to good things. There are many times when we don’t see the value of someone else who is going through difficult times. We can be so preoccupied with our own things that we don’t even notice! Our Big God died for us.
Then He rose to defeat death for us. And now we are headed to life after death because of His rising. I means that all the garbage that happens to us, all the disappointment, all our mistakes and sins, all the consequences because of our selfishness and foolishness, all our pain and suffering: will not be the last word in our lives. Jesus rose from the dead and we trust in Him. He has blazed the trail for us and we are going to live even after we die. Because... Jesus died and rose for us because He loved us first!
Look at the sky at night. Think of how far you can see. God is bigger than that! God made it all. He knows you and loves you.
