St. John's Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Southeastern Iowa Synod. This historic church is situated in a most beautiful and panoramic setting amidst the rolling hills of Northern Jackson County. The people of this church have a long and rich heritage and deep appreciation for God's blessings that have kept it a family of faith for over 150 years. St. John's is located right in the center of two communities: Dubuque, IA (14 miles North) and Bellevue, IA (10 miles South). The church offers a Sunday morning service with Sunday school (September through May), men's bible study, women of the Church and quilting group, a very popular vacation bible school program and a host of other activities. This small and close knit community is known for its support and care for one another, yet has an open door, smile and welcome for new friends, guests, and members. |

Our services are as follows (see calendar for up-to-date listings)
10:30 a.m. Labor Day Weekend-the last Sunday in May
10:00 a.m. Summer Services
9:30 a.m. Sunday School-1st Sunday following Labor Day in September to Mother's Day Sunday in May.
Communion is distributed the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month.
We use the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal with a variety of settings and on occassion the Holden Evening Prayer Service. |

Meet Our Pastor... Rev. Shane C. Koepke |
|
Hello. I'm Pastor Shane Koepke,and I hope you will join us for worship sometime soon! Our congregation has a long history here in the great Mississippi River valley. You may come to share in the beauty of our surroundings, but you will find yourself coming back because of the hospitality. We are a welcoming bunch of lifelong members and new additions. It has been my great honor to serve St. John's and St. Paul's in LaMotte since July of 2007. We have grown together and experienced God's love as a community through real-world struggles and faithful perserverence. We live together in the hope that we are saved and joined together as one through Jesus Christ! I hope to meet you soon. Peace to you!

Sunday School--Just for Kids |
|
Sunday School is held at 9:30 a.m. beginning the Sunday following Labor Day through Mother's Day. We do fun crafts, Bible stories, learn cool songs, take ocassional field trips/picnic, and present the Christmas program very traditionally on Christmas Eve annually. We have Sunday school for children ages 4 years of age through 6th grade. Confirmation classes are held for students ages 7th and 8th grade on Wednesday evenings with the pastor. Our Vacation Bible School is held annually each July in the evenings for 5 days with lots of fun, food and activities! |
