Church Council Meeting Minutes
May 13, 2009
Meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m. by President Joanne Kuehn.
In attendence: Joane Kuehn, Travis Bauer, Brent Roiger, Michelle Doerr, Sandy Pierson, Pastor Bob Miner, Sara Giskaas, and Kathy Hubbell.
Opening Prayer by Pastor Bob.

Additions to Agenda: money counting by Michelle, Generosity, Quarterly Meeting, President Report, Choir Director-Music Committee. Discussion on choir director position and organist schedules. Need to give review to Melissa for past year; need to redefine position. No choir this summer. Committee of Joanne, Sandy, and Rhonda to give Melissa a review. Brent will review organist schedule with Ilene when she is available. Brent made motion to proceed as discussed and to form committee; Kathy seconded. Motion carried.

Secretary’s Report
Michelle made motion to accept with corrections. Sandy seconded. Motion approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Sara went through report. Rhonda made motion to accept, Brent seconded. Motion approve.
Generosity Committee
Spaghetti Fundraiser for youth canceled due to conflict with Ambulance Fundraiser. Michelle went through concerns with money counting. Remember to write down contributions, checks, to make sure numbers are legible. Loose checks need to be written down to give members credit, decided to write on sheet. Michelle will revamp sheet. Next month will update to help reduce errors and help reconcile with bank.
President’s Report
Quarterly meeting set for May 31, 2009 during coffee hour. Sound system, fundraiser, copy machine, computer & treasurer’s report will be on Agenda.
Pastor’s Report
Pastor Bob update on Compassion International. No commitment by PLC just an opportunity for members. Plan is to have representatve speak at both services on May 17th. PB updated council members on confirmation class, term ends in 2 weeks. Honor graduates on May 31, 2009. Kent Krumwiede request to 2nd delegate to synod assembly.
Maintenance Committee
Discussion on replacement of Pastor Bob computer. Ray and Randy estimate replacement would cost approx. $1200. No recent information on sound system. Doug will update at quarterly meeting, Joanne will contact him.
Generosity Committee
Suggestions for June noisy offering to go to Habitat for Humanity. Brent made motion to table to next meeting, Travis seconded. Motion approved. WELCA gave information on revamp of Prayer Chain. Kristine Ziegler or Karen Klenk contact persons. “Fireproof”-7 couples participating & going well. Package cost $19.99. Group meets Mondays in Comfort Room. Youth-Planning Committee May 18 for VBS. Amy Martin is the leader with Jill Grams as assistant. Summer youth plan ice skating and swim at Lake Crystal.
Building Use Request
Farm/City Funfest queens for dinner, royalty after parade.Brent made motion to approve pending Leon to fill out official request form; Travis seconded. Motion approved.
Other
Thank you received from Hannah Miner for confirmation gift. Sara went through invoice received from copy maintenance contract for overage on copy charges. Koanne to bring up at Quarterly meeting and to set up log to track copies to see where need is. Wood Scholarship noominations reviewed: winners Kasi Wilhelm and Ben Beck.

Next meeting date: June 10, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.

Brent motioned to adjourn, Sara seconded. Motion carried.
