The Lutheran church is a confessional church, meaning that we stand upon a body of doctrine, or teaching, and we reject the opposite. We confess the three historic, ecumenical creeds of the Church, namely, the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds.
We believe that the canonical books of Holy Scripture are the inspired, inerrant Word of God, and the teaching by which all other teachings are to be judged.
We believe that the only true God is the Holy Trinity, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three persons in one God.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became flesh, who suffered, who died, who rose again from the dead, who ascended into heaven, who will appear in glory for the final judgment on the Last Day.
We believe that, as the Bible teaches, all people are born in bondage to sin and are unable to free themselves.
We believe that sinners are justified, pronounced righteous, only because of Christ's sinless suffering and death, which they apprehend only by faith.
We believe that faith is the work of the Holy Spirit, who works through the means of the proclaimed Word of God.
We believe that Holy Baptism is the work of the triune God, a means of grace in which sins are forgiven and the sinner is brought into God's household.
We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is truly present in the Sacrament of the Altar, giving us His body and blood to eat and to drink under bread and wine.
We believe that our Lord Christ will return on the Last Day, that all the dead will be raised, that the unbelievers will be delivered to everlasting torment (banished from the presence of God), that all true believers in Christ will be gathered unto God for everlasting life.
