HISTORY
THE LOWER WILD RICE AND RED RIVER CHURCH
> The Lower Wild Rice and Red River Church was organized November 25, 1872 in a rural home near the Wild Rice River north of Hickson, ND with eight families.
> The members agreed at the annual meeting on December 2, 1878 that they would contribute a share of the next year's crop for a church building fund.
> The church was built in 1880 and dedicated on October 18, 1891.
> The Ladies Aid Society was organized on July 30, 1889.
> The church building was struck by lightning early morning on July 17, 1940 and burned to the ground after sixty years of service.

NORTH PLEASANT CHURCH
> Pleasant Evangelical Lutheran Congregation was organized November 27, 1872 in a home three miles southwest of Christine, ND with ten families.
> Lutheran ministers, who did missionary work in this region of the Red River Valley, served the congregation and held worship services in homes.
> For practical reasons, the Pleasant Evangelical Lutheran Congregation was divided in 1880 - the southern division adopting the name "South Pleasant Lutheran Church" and the northern division taking the name "North Pleasant Lutheran Church."
> At a special congregational meeting held May 28, 1882, the North Pleasant church members agreed to contribute to a church building fund either with a promise of money or with specified acres of their wheat crop.
> The North Pleasant Church was built in 1890 and dedicated June 3, 1892.
> The Ladies Aid Society was organized July 16, 1889 at the parsonage.
> The North Pleasant and Lower Wild Rice and Red River congregations merged October 7, 1940.
> In 1940 the North Pleasant church was moved to Hickson.

HICKSON LUTHERAN CHURCH
> Once the North Pleasant church building was moved to Hickson in 1940, the congregation was renamed "Hickson Lutheran Church."
> The first annual meeting of Hickson Lutheran Church was held January 14, 1941 and the church was dedicated May 30, 1942.
> In 1952 Christine Lutheran Church joined South Pleasant and Hickson congregations to form the Christine Parish.

HICKSON LUTHERAN HOSTS "CHILI & CHOCOLATE"
Hickson Lutheran church held their first community lunch on Palm Sunday at the Hickson Community Center. "Chili & Chocolate" featured various kinds of chili as well as kid friendly foods. Those attending also got to sample the various dipping foods for the chocolate fountain.

The youth also held a pie sale to raise money for the National Gathering this summer in New Orleans.

Thanks to everyone for coming!

People of all ages enjoyed the great food and fellowship.

Thanks to those who donated homemade pies for the bake sale!

The chocolate fountain was a big hit!

Even our youngest customers gave a thumbs up!
