| | | Volunteers are encouraged to arrive at the Cemetery at 10:00 am to place flags on our Soldier's graves and celebrate afterward with a picnic and live music on the beautiful front lawns of the American Legion Post. Or just come at noon for our picnic and fun! All are invited, but especially Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Legion Members, and Veterans!We will celebrate this special day with appearances by elected officials and community leaders, patriotic music, and a flyover! Attendees will need to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. Admission is one item to donate to the Homeless Veterans of Austin – tube socks, white tee shirts, used polo shirts, or a travel sized deodorant, toothpaste, or toothbrushes. |

Schedule of Events: |
9:00 – 9:30 am at the American Legion Post Legionnaires will perform the annual flag raising ceremony, and offer a blessing to the fallen.10:00- 11:30 am at the Austin Memorial Cemetery Volunteers will gather at the Cemetery to plant flags on graves of the fallen. A Devotion will be offered and a bagpiper will play songs of remembrance. 12:00- 1:00 pm at the American Legion Post A Flag ceremony led by the legion with the Boy Scouts presenting colors will begin the picnic. Each branch of service will be honored by the singing of the service hymn. Formal presentation and keynote address by Dr. Thomas Cedel will follow, with a Missing Man Formation Flyover of WWII planes and special vocalist Melissa Polka. 1:00- 3:30 pm at the American Legion Post Lunch will be served and Phaze 3 Band will play classic 60’s and 70’s era hits as well as patriotic songs. Kids can enjoy fun and games all afternoon! | |

The American Legion Post 76 is located at 2201 Veteran's Drive Austin, TX 78703 From North Austin Take MoPac(Loop 1) to the Lake Austin Blvd exit. Continue past Lake Austin Blvd. on the frontage road (Atlanta St.) The Post is on the right. From South Austin Take MoPac(Loop 1) to the Lake Austin Blvd exit. Turn Left onto Lake Austin Blvd. Turn Left onto South Loop 1 frontage road(Atlanta St). The Post is on the right. There is some parking at the Post. For additional parking continue on the frontage road(Atlanta St.) and turn left onto Veterans Drive to the Park and ride under MoPac(Loop 1) by Austin High School. Austin Memorial Cemetery is located at 2800 Hancock Dr. |
