St Paul's has several young families and a good youth program. Our Vacation Bible school is one of the best programs in the area and we had 96+ children enrolled in VBS this past year. Our confirmands spent an awesome week at Camp Carol Joy Holling in June 2007 and they were confirmed on Palm Sunday of this year. We have young people from 4 different school systems as members of our congregation with Wilbur/Clatonia, Norris and Beatrice in addition to our Tri County young people at St Paul's. We continue to welcome new members into our church family and we have celebrated several baptisms over the past year. Our OWLS ("Older Wiser Lutherans") are active in many facets of our congregational life together and we have a fun and spirit filled time as a community of faith in this time and place. We meet at 9:00am for worship and we celebrate Holy Communion on the 1st Sunday of month as well as on Easter, Palm Sunday, Ash Wednesday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. We use Marty Haugen's communion liturgy "Now the Feast" for our celebration of Holy Communion. We use a blended worship style that features various contemporary settings on the 2nd and 4th Sundays and more traditional worship settings on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
Our Sunday school program usually meets at 10:15am every Sunday from late August through the end of May each year. We have an active Luther League that involves the majority of our high school and college age youth in a variety of activities throughout the year. We have Sunday school classes for youth of all ages and pastor has an 10:30am Bible study for adults and young adults as well.
We gather for worship on Wednesday evenings during Advent (beginning in early December and leading up to Christmas on December 25th) and Lent (Six weeks typically in February, March and April each year beginning with Ash Wednesday and ending with Holy Week and Easter Sunday) Our Wednesday evening services are frequently preceded by a soup and sandwich supper or potato bar. In this way, we gather as a community for fun, good food and fellowship that helps set the tone our evening worship together.
Our Vacation Bible school and Christmas programs are among the highlights of our year and are truly community events that involve the vast majority our members in some way. Our Christmas program is typically presented on Christmas Eve and involves most of our young people and those of us who are young at heart. Our Vacation Bible school is typically a weeklong event in early June each year. We are both grateful and thankful that young people from all over the community and surrounding areas join us for what is always a fun, exciting and event filled week.
We have an active choir and cherub choir. Our cherub choir members frequently use small handbells as part of their performance during Sunday worship.
We have two active women's circles that meet for bible study and are also involved in many stewardship and community activities such as helping assemble Braille Bibles, making blankets for our troops overseas as part of "Project Husker Heat," supplying cookies for local area blood drives, making health kits and gathering blankets for Lutheran World Relief.
We are an active, thriving community of faith. All we are missing is you. We would love to see you at worship next Sunday
