Church Council and Boards
Voters Assembly
All members, male and female, 18 and older are voting members. The annual meeting is
held in January, with special meetings called when necessary.
Church Council
The church council meets the second Tuesday of each month. It consists of Chairman,
Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Ladies' Society Rep., Pastor,
and the chairperson of each of the following boards: Assimilation, Education, Elders,
Evangelism, Stewardship, Trustees, and Youth.
Church Boards
Selection:
All chairpersons of church boards are elected by congregational vote. All trustees and
elders are also elected. Other members of all boards are appointed by the Church Council.

Purposes:
- Assimilation: Seeks to involve all members in meaningful ways.
- Education: Coordinates all educational programs.
- Elders: Directs the spiritual welfare of the congregation.
- Evangelism: Empowers members for outreach and sharing the Gospel with all people.
- Stewardship: Leads us in using our time, talents, and treasure.
- Trustees: Maintains the physical properties of the church.
- Youth: Coordinates youth ministry by adults and youth serving together.

Books
CHILDREN'S BOOKS are chosen to help the reader respond positively to Christian
beliefs and to grow in faith and understanding of one another.

ADULT'S BOOKS are selected to meet the needs of Christians in all facets of life. Our
library also contains materials that support, strengthen, and broaden teachings and pro-
grams of our church. It is the goal of our library to aid in the spiritual growth and enrich-
ment of all groups and in all facets of life.

Videos and Audio Cassettes
The videos for children are chosen to help the viewer see and better understand Christian
beliefs and help them to grow in faith.

History
ZION WAS ORGANIZED on October 4, 1945. The present property was purchased in
1946 and a temporary basement structure was built. The present church building was
dedicated in 1961. The education wing was added in 1985.

PASTORS: Zion has been served by four pastors
+ Rev. Herbert Bussman (1946-1970)
+ Rev. Ronald Jansen (1970-1978)
+ Dr. James Heining (1979-1994)
+ Rev. Paul Aldrich (1994-2006)

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: From 1976 to 2004, the congregation had a full-time Director
of Christian Education. Serving in this capacity have been:
+ Mrs. Janae Clausen (1976-1979)
+ Mr. John Grohs (1980-1984)
+ Mr. Curt Green (1985-1988)
+ Mr. Tim Stroming (1988-2000)
+ Mr. Stephen Heimer (Jan.-June 2001)
